Exciting plans are afoot at your flying club.
Our trusty and much loved Lightwing 081 is getting long in the tooth.
Nothing wrong with that, except for increased maintainence costs, but in order to attract new members some dazzle is needed.
We still feel that it is important to learn to fly a tail dragger, but
we have to accept that it is easier to do initial training on a
tricycle configured plane. Such planes attract students.
Greg and I have spent some time looking at various
options, and with the support of your committee we think we have come
up with the best flying and training options for our club's future.
One of the most attractive planes for price, training
and general performance at the moment is the A22 Foxbat. We have both
flown this craft and are both comfortable that it represents the best
choice.
At the October meeting that decision was taken to sell
our Lightwing 081, and to proceed in principle with the purchase of a
Foxbat.
Even with the sale of 081 the club has to borrow a
considerable sum. For training certification, the craft must be factory
built. To meet the loan repayments will require a modest increase in
the aircraft hire rate, and will require more flying time. More
students to be taken on, more flying time spent by instructors.
This is where you can help. The club only exists
because of the enthusiasm and dedication of its members. By becoming
involved, even in the smallest way, you share our enthusiasm and
passion for flying and make it all worth while.
There are, other practical ways you can help, should you be able and wish to.
We need to get more instructors. If you know someone
who is qualified, or could readily become qualified, please bring your
frind to the field and introduce him or her to the club.
We will also be taking subscriptions, should you wish, for the plane against future flying hours.
What better or cheaper way than to spend say $1000 to secure future flying time in an exciting new plane?
Safe, Fun, Flying.
