AVALON DATES SET: The 2011 Australian International Airshow and Aerospace and Defence Exposition will be held from Tuesday March 1 to Sunday March 6, the organisers have announced.

The early March date for the biennial airshow at Avalon was chosen to avoid another clash with the Australian Grand Prix, which necessitated a shift of dates for the 2009 event.

The 2011 event will mark the 90th anniversary of the RAAF.

“We expect Avalon to be the centre piece of the 90th anniversary celebrations, and with support from the RAAF, we expect more international military aircraft participation from a wider range of countries than ever before,” Airshow CEO Ian Honnery said.

“We are thrilled at the prospect that Avalon 2011 may attract some of the world's most exciting and rarely seen aircraft.”
